The latest results of the modal split survey, which was supervised and analysed by our colleague Frank Müller from the Mobility Research Department, were presented to the Holzkirchen Municipal Council.
The evaluation shows that, as planned, the share of bicycle traffic in inner-city traffic has risen from 16% to 19% – at the same time, pedestrian traffic has recorded strong growth from 28% to 36%, making it the big winner.
While the share of motorised transport in domestic traffic fell significantly from 50% to 38%, the share of motorised source and destination traffic remained almost unchanged at 76%. In contrast, public transport in particular developed positively, with an increase of 7% in 2025.

Overall, the results confirm the importance of the growing eco-friendly transport network comprising walking, cycling and public transport. The data collection is based on around 1,000 surveys and provides an important basis for future municipal mobility development measures. We are delighted to have been able to support this positive development, which has also been well received by the regional press.
