Bavaria-wide check-in/check-out ticket system
Facilitate access to public transport by simplifying the fare and ticket system in Bavaria
Together with the Braunschweig-based engineering company WVI GmbH, we were commissioned to advise on the design and implementation of a Bavaria-wide check-in/be-out ticket system (CiBo BY).
A check-in/be-out system is to be introduced in Bavaria to make climate-friendly public transport more attractive to more people and to encourage people to switch from cars to buses and trains. This should also simplify access to public transport for occasional travellers by removing the need for users to deal with complex and regionally different price levels, fare zones and products. The app only needs to be activated before the journey, the end of the journey is automatically recognised and the cheapest price is then calculated from the various fares.
The introduction of CiBo BY will be based on the Bavarian mobility platform and will take place in stages.
